Who we are
We are a team made up of 1 Product Manager, 1 Designer, 4+ Engineers, and 1 Product Ops. We built ActiveSG, for a healthier Singapore where sports is a part of everyday life. We started of as a team from Open Government Products and now transitioning to be part of Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY)’s family.
What does a Product Designer do?
As a Product Designer, you will own the end to end experience of your product, from vision to execution.
On a day to day basis, this means:
Getting out of the building. Visiting sports centres, talking to ground staff and members of public to deeply understand needs on the ground.
Navigating a wide stakeholder landscape. Facilitating cross-domain and cross-functional collaboration to align goals and guide decisions. You'll need to broker alignment across all of them.
Moving fast to validate. Quickly throwing together prototypes to test ideas with users before committing to a direction.
Keeping the ball rolling. Taking high initiative across ambiguous situations, jumping in wherever needed to unblock the team and drive decisions forward.
Driving end-to-end across problem exploration, solution discovery, and delivery across teams.
We look for people who
Design with impact — You have extensive experience shipping products and experiences, whether through work or personal projects.
Show strong design sense and judgment — Your portfolio demonstrates thoughtful work, and you can clearly explain the decisions behind it.
Are fluent with modern tools — We mainly use Figma, with some using Cursor. You should be comfortable learning and adopting new tools to deliver your best work.
Communicate across disciplines — You engage across disciplines, clearly communicate your designs, and influence others, including policymakers.
Take initiative — You don’t wait for instructions; you push for change, challenge the status quo, and make things happen.
Care about the public good — You believe in serving people above politics, and you’re willing to stand up when something isn’t in the public interest.
Overall we look for people who have ability, initiative, good communication, and an interest in public good.
Working at OGP
Ownership and Autonomy — Beyond technical tasks, this means having autonomy to voice opinions and suggest future directions. Building what you believe in drives the creation of great solutions.
Rapid Prototyping — We prioritize testing ideas over debating them, allowing us to identify problems quickly and convey possibilities to others. This fail-fast approach accelerates innovation.
Flexibility — We provide flexible work arrangements based on what works best for our team and its members, fostering a productive and supportive environment.
Continuous Learning — Drive professional growth by exploring new architectures, frameworks, and technologies. With dedicated yearly learning months and hackathons, continuous learning is essential as we tackle innovative ideas and challenges.
Mission-Driven — Our work is dedicated to the public good, aiming to improve the lives of Singapore citizens. We focus on creating impactful solutions that enhance the community and the place we call home.
