The Transport Team

You’ll join the Parking.sg team, which is part of OGP’s broader transport mission:

  • Parking.sg — the national mobile parking app replacing paper coupons, used by almost every driver in Singapore

  • Integrations with ERP 2.0 & OBU to enable more seamless, fair, and digital roadside parking

  • Opportunities to unify a fragmented parking ecosystem and scale the next-generation parking solution nationwide

Why This Role Matters

Parking.sg is one of Singapore’s most widely used government-built apps — processing 1.5 million parking sessions monthly, enabling $3.5M in early-session refunds, and serving 1.19 million unique vehicles every month

We are growing our engineering capacity to rebuild the Parking.sg mobile app, and deliver newer transport capabilities, with better user experience.

About the Role

We are hiring a Software Engineer to expand the team’s engineering capacity and accelerate delivery. You will work closely with the product team across various functions to:

  • Rebuild an ageing mobile app with a modern tech stack

  • Lead a major UI/UX refresh for millions of users

  • Integrate Parking.sg with OBU systems

  • Clear technical debt and strengthen security & infrastructure

  • Contribute to a cleaner, more consistent digital transport ecosystem

This role involves both strong execution on scoped engineering problems and active collaboration with teammates and external partners.

What You Will Do

Build & Ship

  • Write clean, production-quality code for well-scoped technical problems

  • Build features across TypeScript, React, AWS; React Native is a plus Intake Form

  • Design and document REST APIs using an API-first approach

Product & Collaboration

  • Work with the Product Manager, Technical Lead and cross-functional teammates to prioritise tasks and deliver meaningful features

  • Contribute to UI/UX revamps and system integrations

  • Collaborate with external agencies (URA, HDB, JTC, LTA, MOT) on implementation details and user needs

Technical Quality & Reliability

  • Participate in code reviews and pair programming for team-level quality

  • Contribute to secure SDLC via CI/CD, Git, IaC, and cloud deployment practices

  • Improve system reliability, maintainability, and security

What We’re Looking For (Must-Haves)

Strong coding & problem solving

  • Understand problems clearly, ask clarifying questions, and write executable solutions

  • Able to solve core coding questions and demonstrate structured thinking

Proficiency & independence in writing clean code

  • Clean structure, sensible naming, readable logic, good test coverage

  • Can implement solutions that run reliably against given test cases

Clear communication

  • Can explain decisions and code clearly to both technical and non-technical partners

  • Communicates in a structured, concise way (especially important for agency collaboration)

Good to Have

  • Experience collaborating with external stakeholders or cross-functional teams

  • Built products in startups or 0→1 environments

  • Familiarity with large-scale consumer apps or public-facing transactional systems

Projects OGP has worked on include:

ScamShield — iOS and Android mobile apps, enhanced in August 2024, help users check and report suspicious communications. The apps automatically filter known scams using an AI-powered machine learning classifier. An Admin Dashboard also allows police to verify reported scams.

ParkingSG — A mobile app alternative to parking coupons. It lets users pay, extend, and refund their parking sessions just using their phones.

RedeemSG — Helps the Singapore Government to create, send and track redemptions of digital vouchers easily.

COVID-19 Vaccination — A suite of systems built to enable Singapore's national vaccination campaign for COVID-19. This includes informational sites, appointment booking systems, and records management systems.

data.gov.sg — An open repository of all the Singapore Government's public data. It helps people understand the data using visualizations and articles, and provides real-time APIs for developers to use.

Isomer — Provides government agencies with an easy-to-deploy static website building and hosting service to create usable, secure and faster informational websites quickly.

FormSG — A form builder tool for agencies to self-service and create online forms that capture classified data, with the goal of replacing paper forms.

PaySG — Was developed to enable digital payments for government services, and was initially used for payments for COVID-19 swab tests and Stay-Home Notices for incoming travellers to Singapore.
